Grade 6

Create a pictorial representation of a scene from WtRFG on an 8 1/2" x 11" paper.  The entire paper should be colored.  No white space left.

Write a description of the scene you picture.  This may be handwritten or typewritten.  It must be double-spaced and have a proper heading.
  • Read over the chapter in which the particular scene occurs.
These are some questions that can be answered in your explication of the scene
  • Who is in the scene? Which characters are involved?
  • What are they doing there?  What has happened before this scene and how does it affect this scene?  
  • When does this event occur in the context of the story?  
  • Where does this scene occur?  What is the particular setting?  What makes the setting unique?
  • Why does the event represented in this scene happen? 
  • How is this scene related to what happened before and what follows after?  How is this scene significant to the story?
Grade 7

F451 final drafts are due two days after drafts are returned to you.  
Additional choice for those whose essays have not materialized.

TKaM Figurative language worksheet.

For each quotation, identify the literary device, 
identify what is being compared to what or what is being personified, and 
analyze what is the author's intent in using that device.  
What is the author expressing through the use of this particular example of figurative language?

Write on looseleaf and double space. Writing is due Thursday, April 29.  
The plot of the first part of TKaM involves children playing.  Choose one event and give details and reasons why it is memorable.
Events:  
getting in trouble in school/  telling scary stories/  rolling in a tire/  fishing pole in the window/  a house burning/  building a snowman/  treasures in the knot of the tree/  trespassing on a neighbor's property/ a dog with rabies.


For full credit, you must include significant details, specifically:

  • who is involved
  • what they are doing, where it is happening
  • when it occurs
  • where it is happening
  • why they are doing this
  • how they are doing this
